Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SimulSpeak collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our website, apps, and real-time translation services (the “Service”). We act as the data controller for the personal data described below.

1. Data we collect

  • Account data: email address, hashed password, plan, and billing status.
  • Usage data: call minutes, language pairs, timestamps, and API usage, used for billing and your activity history.
  • Audio & transcripts: during a call we process your speech to recognise, translate, and re-voice it. Transcripts may be stored in your account history so you can review past calls.
  • Payment data: handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We never store full card numbers.
  • Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, and essential cookies needed to operate the Service.

2. How we use your data

  • To provide real-time translation and deliver calls in your chosen languages.
  • To create and secure your account and authenticate API requests.
  • To measure usage, bill your plan, and maintain your call and API history.
  • To send service-related email (for example, account setup links).
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your call audio to train AI models.

3. Legal bases (GDPR)

We process personal data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), on the basis of our legitimate interests (security, service improvement), to comply with legal obligations (tax and accounting), and, where applicable, with your consent (optional analytics cookies).

4. Service providers (processors)

We share data with trusted providers strictly to operate the Service. These may include speech recognition, machine translation, and voice synthesis providers used to perform translation, a telephony provider to connect calls, a payment processor (Stripe), an email provider, and EU-based hosting infrastructure. Each processes data only on our instructions under appropriate safeguards.

5. International transfers

Our core infrastructure is hosted in the European Union. Where a provider processes data outside the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Data retention

We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required by law. Call transcripts and history are retained in your account until you delete them or close your account. Live call audio is processed transiently and is not retained beyond what is needed to deliver the translation and any history you have enabled.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; object to or restrict certain processing; and request data portability. You can exercise these rights by contacting us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and EU-based infrastructure to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Cookies

We use essential and (with consent) optional cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details and to manage your choices.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
