SIP / PSTN
The protocols and networks used to place calls to ordinary phone numbers.
PSTN is the traditional public telephone network; SIP is the protocol that connects internet calling to it. Together they let a translation service dial a normal phone number anywhere in the world.
This is how SimulSpeak can translate a call to someone on a regular phone who has no app at all.
