Consecutive interpretation

Interpreting after the speaker pauses, alternating turns between speaker and interpreter.

In consecutive interpretation the speaker talks, pauses, and then the interpreter renders what was said. It roughly doubles the time a conversation takes because each turn is spoken twice.

Real-time translation removes the pause-and-repeat rhythm, letting both parties speak almost continuously in their own language.
